Soutkloof History

Soutkloof Game Farm was originally a traditional wheat farm in the Swartland area in the Piketberg District of the Western Cape.

The owner’s vision of reintroducing certain game species that were found in the area, notably, Cape Mountain Zebra, Eland, Black Wildebeest, Gemsbok (Oryx) and Bontebok has been so successful over the past 10 years that they are now able to sell the surplus game.

The game was specifically selected for breeding purposes.

They have adapted to being fed, which we do only when necessary and therefore they are able to stand in smaller areas or camps.

A specially designed boma was erected in a natural passageway for capturing purposes.

All our activities on the farm are focused on reducing stress related elements thus creating healthy, passive and relatively stress-free game.

There is no commercial hunting allowed on the farm.
